The Ministry of Education\u00a0<\/strong>invites the public to an<\/strong><\/p>\n Open House on RURAL EDUCATION<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n *\u00a0 *\u00a0 *<\/strong><\/p>\n PLACE:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 North Peace Secondary School \u2013 Library<\/strong><\/p>\n DATE:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Friday, March 3rd<\/sup>, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n TIME: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6:00 \u2013 8:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The Parliamentary Secretary is looking for feedback from British Columbians and interested stakeholders to provide a range of different perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing rural school districts and communities for her consideration.<\/p>\n The purpose of the regional open houses is to explore rural funding and educational practices, as well as the role educational programs and schools play in rural communities across the province. These regional open houses aim to gather feedback from families and community members through an open dialogue.<\/p>\n Everyone is welcome to attend.\u00a0 The first 30-45 minutes of each meeting will be an open house format, where light refreshments will be served.\u00a0 The remaining portion of the meeting will be a more formal question and answer format with Parliamentary Secretary Linda Larson and\/or Ministry of Education staff.<\/p>\n We invite you to share your thoughts on the following discussion questions at the\u00a0open houses:<\/p>\n Discussion 1: \u00a0\u00a0What is your definition of a rural school?<\/p>\n Discussion 2: \u00a0\u00a0What are the positive impacts in the community?<\/p>\n Discussion 3: \u00a0\u00a0How are schools being used?<\/p>\n Discussion 4: \u00a0\u00a0Share your rural education story<\/p>\n Once all feedback on the future direction for rural education has been\u00a0reviewed, a final report will be released near the end of the 2016\/2017 school year. The final report will include recommendations for the future, with a focus on the unique challenges facing rural school districts, recognizing the economic, social and cultural impact that schools have on small communities.<\/p>\n
