Here is another great example of our staff and students being Best for the World! Article below from teacher Julie Ludwinowski at Prespatou School:
Many of us have read and or participated in Bluey Day in order to help raise money for cancer research while supporting our local Fort St. John Hospital. Normally, people shave their head and collect donations to raise money. However, this year, the Grade 6 Class at Prespatou School challenged their Principal – Dave Ritchie – to grow hair. Yes, that’s right…GROW hair!
In the efforts to challenge the class to “think outside the box” and further encourage empathy, their teacher – “Miss Julie” Ludwinowski – suggested the idea during one of the daily Fireside Chat times. Students thrived on the idea and took the challenge on calling it “Operation Fuzzball”; the name was selected because Mr. Ritchie had no hair to shave and they were excited to watch his hair grow. The Grade 6 students interviewed both the principal and his wife, created an information sheet and regularly collected donations from the community. The Grade 6 students raised over $700.00 for the cause and in turn will have an opportunity to shave their principal’s head at the end of the year ceremony this June.
In the photo, Grade 6 Students – Jessica Dick and Martin Bueckert – are measuring Mr. Ritchie’s hair growth to date.
