Four Local Dealerships Team up to Feed Hungry Students

December 13, 2021

For Immediate Release: Four Local Dealerships Team up to Feed Hungry Students

School District 60 would like to express our gratitude to four of our local car dealerships who are making a significant contribution to the school meal programs. Fort City Chrysler, Fort Motors, Honda Fort St John, and Murray GM have teamed up to donate $28,000 to fight hunger in our schools.

Your Local Fort St John Dealerships have joined forces to make an incredible impact to help our local schools. Supporting local is important to them and they’ve expressed their collaboration as “Better Together. Stronger Together.”

This funding will support schools to make food available to students in need. Food programs play an important part in readiness and meeting physiological, social and emotional needs of students. With needs met, students are more apt to attend and be successful in their learning which will lead to higher rates of achievement and graduation. Improving outcomes for students are key pieces in our Framework for Enhancing Student Learning.

Thank you to these community partners for their generous donation. Together We Learn.

Quotes:

Helen Gilbert, Board Chair: “When students basic needs are met they learn better. A big thanks to the local dealerships for being part of the community village that supports our students.”

Carleen Andrews, Director of Instruction: “We greatly appreciate the generosity and support of our local car dealerships and their commitment to strengthening community ties while ensuring our local children have access to quality meal programs.”

Trustees along with SD60 executive staff receive a donation from representatives from our local car dealerships.
